Windows SmartScreen Warning When Installing UpperSearch
Some users may see a Microsoft Defender SmartScreen message such as “Windows protected your PC” when opening the UpperSearch installer. This is a SmartScreen warning, and the steps below explain how to check the source and proceed safely.
Why does this appear?
UpperSearch is a relatively new Windows application, and its current installer is not yet digitally code-signed. SmartScreen can warn about new or unsigned applications that have not established sufficient reputation.
The warning itself does not mean Windows has detected malware. It is a reputation warning, not a malware verdict or an indication that Microsoft has approved UpperSearch.
Use the official download
Only continue if you downloaded UpperSearch from the official UpperSearch website or the official download URL below. If the installer came from another source, do not run it; download a fresh copy from the official source.

- Open the UpperSearch installer.
- If “Windows protected your PC” appears, select More info.
- Confirm the application is UpperSearch and that you downloaded it from the official source.
- Select Run anyway if you want to continue.
- Complete the installation normally.
Windows labels can vary slightly depending on your Windows version and configuration.
Is UpperSearch malware?
A SmartScreen reputation warning by itself is not a malware verdict. Use only the official installer, and keep your normal Windows security protections enabled while downloading and installing UpperSearch.
Why isn't the installer signed?
UpperSearch is currently in Beta, and the installer is not currently digitally code-signed. Code signing may be introduced as the product matures, but it does not guarantee that every SmartScreen warning will disappear.
